Ardbeg Uigeadail is a single malt Scotch whisky produced by Ardbeg Distillery, located on the isle of Islay, off the west coast of Scotland. Ardbeg Uigeadail is a combination of two Ardbeg types: Ardbeg's signature Islay malt whisky, and a deep, caramel-flavored whisky from retired sherry and bourbon casks. This marriage creates a unique whisky which has earned its reputation as one of the greatest Islay malts ever made, and was named “World Whisky of the Year” by Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible in 2009.
Ardbeg Uigeadail's aroma is a complex mixture of peat smoke, dried fruit, and sweet spices. On the palate, it is softly textured with flavors of malt, dried dark fruits, and toffee. The finish is long, smoky, and balanced with a hint of sweetness. The classic Ardbeg peaty character is still present, but it is balanced by the notes of sherry cask maturation.
