Batasiolo Moscato d'Asti is an Italian white wine produced in the Piedmont municipality of Castiglione Tinella in the Asti DOCG region. It is produced with the Moscato Bianco grape variety and is part of the Moscato d'Asti DOCG appellation. Moscato d'Asti is aromatized and light in alcohol content and has a characteristic sweetness in taste, with grape aromas and acidity that provide balance against this sweetness. It is usually made in a passito style, where the grapes are harvest from the vine in late September and allowed to raisin on the vine for a few weeks after harvest. This extract sugars and other compounds which give the wine its sweetness, complexity, and body. The fermentation process involves the use of the Charmat method during which the grape juice and sugars are converted into alcohol and carbonation.
