Bira! - South Africa Rum Sawcr 2017

BIRA! SOUTH AFRICA RUM SAWCR 2017 was an annual rum festival that took place in Cape Town, South Africa. This year’s festival was held on the 26th of August 2017, and was hosted by The Rum Club of South Africa and co-hosted by BIRA! It was the fourth festival of its kind, and it was open to the public and to members of the rum industry. The festival was focused around exploring and celebrating the unique flavors and origins of rum from around the world. There were nearly two hundred different types of rum to sample, including regional rums, cachaça, agricole, and even dark rums. Attendees were invited to sample different types of rum, meet with distillers and ambassadors of the rum industry, and take part in interactive experiences ranging from rum tastings to food and cocktail pairings. During the day, the festival also hosted seminars on topics such as the history of rum, the differences between rums, and insights into the art of blending.
