Cointreau is a beloved spirit and mixer created by brothers Jean and Edouard Cointreau. Their recipe was first produced in 1875 in Angers, France and since then, it has become an essential part of many cocktails around the world. This liqueur is mostly composed of two ingredients: sweet and bitter orange peels. The peels are left to macerate for a total of four weeks before being distilled multiple times in copper stills. During the second and third distillations, a golden, fragrant aroma begins to emerge. Finally, plant-based spirit is added to the mix.
