G&M Connoisseurs Choice Mortlach 1989 is a single malt whisky from the Speyside region of Scotland. This whisky is a rare release from the Mortlach distillery which only produces a limited number of bottles each year. This particular release was produced in 1989 and bottled in 2019. This whisky is aged for 30 years in a combination of refill and ex-sherry casks which impart its aged character. The nose of the whisky is complex with dark fruit, leather, dried fruits, sweet spices and cigar smoke. On the palate, the sweetness of the malt is balanced by the dry, oaky flavours from the sherry casks. The whisky is full-bodied and smooth and finishes long with nutty, smoky and spicy flavours. G&M Connoisseurs Choice Mortlach 1989 is an excellent whisky with a great complexity and depth of flavour. Aged for 30 years this whisky is a great example of what a fine Scotch whisky from the Speyside region can be. If you are looking for a whisky to savour and enjoy then this release is definitely worth seeking out.
