The Glenfiddich IPA Experiment is a unique collaboration between the renowned whisky distillery and craft beer makers Speyside Craft Brewery. In this experiment, Glenfiddich whisky is aged in casks that recently held an India Pale Ale (IPA) beer before being blended with specially selected malts and Speyside yeasts. The result is a whisky with an unmistakably hoppy and fresh flavor with notes of citrus, ripe fruit, and a hint of spice. Glenfiddich is well known for its commitment to quality and innovation, and this experiment follows suit. To create this unique IPA-finished whisky, Glenfiddich has joined forces with Speyside Craft Brewery, which is a grassroots brewing project co-founded by Barry Simms and Glen Cummings. The duo have developed an authentic IPA recipe that balances the hop-forward nature of the beer with sweet, toasted malt notes. Once the IPA brew is complete, it is then transferred to used Glenfiddich whisky casks for a minimum of four weeks before being blended with specially-selected malts and Speyside yeasts.
